IC INFORMATION
Echo Name: Waldemar the Dragon
Personality: Waldemar is a kind, yet melancholic creature with as many regrets as he has good intentions. His frightening appearance belies a polite and friendly demeanor, and while he can seem a touch jaded or bitter at times, it's difficult to push him into displaying anger or despair.
Once a mortal king that ruled his people with a just heart and a fair mind, Waldemar eventually became consumed by greed until he only thought of first his kingdom, then his own desires. He ruthlessly trampled anyone and anything that got in his way until, ultimately, he was struck down and cursed by a legendary witch from a foreign land. Turned into a dragon and banished from the lands of men, Waldemar watched from afar as the kingdom he had loved so dearly crumbled over the years from within — his people, taking their cues from their king's past behavior, chose to fight among themselves and pursue their own interests rather than stand and work together, and so everything fell into ruin. Yet in time, Waldemar's distant descendants succeeded in uniting the shattered realm, restoring the kingdom and relations with neighboring countries through a healthy exchange of goodwill and compassion.
Because of this, Waldemar as he is now values the better parts of human nature above all else. He wants those around him to understand that generosity, empathy and forgiveness are more important qualities than the possession of anything material. Likewise, he takes a stern view towards displays of greed or similar selfish behavior, and considers it his business to discourage that way of thinking through his games. However, Waldemar is also a practical soul that acknowledges the necessity of balance in one's actions, and thinks critically of those that are too quick to sacrifice too much.
What sort of games do you plan on running?: Games centered around alternating themes of greed and generosity, where the former is discouraged and the latter is rewarded. He will also run games/minigames that are just about silly fun, as he also places a certain measure of worth upon light-hearted amusement and friendly competition. The majority of his games will be harmless, although some will have light trauma, which will be emotional/psychological in nature 9 times out of 10. Heavy trauma isn't entirely out of the question, but would be very very unlikely.
Echo Realm: An enormous cavern filled to the brim with mounds of gold coins, precious gems, and sundry other treasures. There are gilded chests and velvet coinpurses overflowing with more of the same. Oil paintings, tapestries, and the like can also be found scattered among the piles of shiny valuables, all in oddly perfect condition. The same holds true for jewel-encrusted weapons and ornaments. Nothing of "modern" design exists in this realm; sorting through the hoard, one can find a masterfully crafted bow and quiver of arrows, for example, but not a crossbow.
There's a secondary entrance/exit to the cavern, but it opens out onto a seemingly endless expanse of heavy mist and there seems to be no way down save for flight or falling.
The stone floor is pleasantly warm beneath one's feet, with large areas thoughtfully swept free of the surrounding clutter so that visitors can come and go without risk of tripping or stubbing their toe. The air itself is also warm, and knowledgeable visitors will be able to tell from the rock walls that Waldemar's lair resides within a volcano. At the center of everything is an enormous banquet table large enough to easily accommodate every team and then some, complete with crystal candleholders (the candles within somehow always lit), fine china and silver cutlery that looks as though it's never been touched. The chairs are wooden and high-backed, but with comfortable plush seats.
Any of the wealth taken out of the realm, whether given freely or stolen, will turn into colorful, sweet-smelling flowers (of the harmless variety) after one hour. Weapons will phase into nothing if taken without permission.
